Traversing through the narrow lanes of Shahpur Jat, Delhi’s urban village, I found an old restored haveli as Lila’s studio- a design outfit set up in late 2011 by an architect; minimalistic in appearance as well rich in craftsmanship. Drawing inspiration from contemporary Indian design aesthetics, the brand is an effort to simplify our rich visual culture.
Lila celebrates solid colours with the help of textures and patterns while draping them in bold silhouettes of only pure and natural materials (locally sourced and fabricated); easing my search for affordable clothes, also letting the skin breathe. I fell in love with the idea of various climate sensitive fabrics, their evolving stories seeped in culture and an underlying intent of reducing their carbon footprint.
Fancy yourself in their casuals with pants,coats/ jackets,shirts,tops/blouses, skirts, dresses, scarves and more ranging between Rs.800-Rs.7000. It’s advisable to visit the store with your men as they’ll help you splurge happily while getting tempted with some fashionable clothing for themselves too. Thoughtfully only yarn dyed fabrics are used as they don’t bleed in washing and are easy to maintain, giving a longer life to a sustainable product. Anirudh Agarwal justifies the prominent fun element of Lila through his lens.
Nowadays I seem to be coming across everything that expresses my relaxed state of mind tweaked with the latest style-you could make it yours; go grab an expression NOW!!!!
