Even though I am not one of those over enthusiastic dressers, Cecile d’Ascoli’s line of pure fabrics seemed like one of the most obvious choices to me this summer. French at heart but Jew by birth, she met her husband 9 yrs ago at the Oberoi Hotel, New Delhi, when their common friend introduced them to each other for sourcing Indian fabrics and embroideries. Destiny played its part well since now she is settled in the same country which helped her establish her work elsewhere and also find her soul mate.

Peter d’Ascoli

A New Yorker by birth, with strong Italian roots from his grandparents and a French wife, coupled with over two decades of Indian influence, sums up Peter d’Ascoli’s  diverse and cosmopolitan approach to design. According to him, it is important for one to know what they are good at, or, what one can do or can’t do? Thus he passionately concentrates on re-creating rich and diverse cultures and history of decorative arts in India, his home for the last seven years. This zealous delight is translated in his use of textiles which are his obsession.

DESIGN developments

New Delhi brought in the first India Design ID 2013 patronizing the works and people covered by Elle Decor, at NSIC grounds with collateral events at design districts like Lado Sarai, Shahpur Jat and Meherchand mkt.; spreading the buzz in public spaces,bookshops,restaurants, and art galleries from 15th-17th February ’13.
